Comme c'est magique filming the latest installation of Soon in Paris through the brilliant camera lens of Francois Lizé. Soon is a public multi-city experiment which positions strangers as co-stars in an improvised and ever-shifting filmic narrative.
In Paris this time, I dipped back into the character of Sophie (with the hair of Gena Rowlands and perhaps some of her spirit) an actress on the edge, who has been up for 24 hours after her best friend's wedding. Lost and somewhat strung out, perhaps looking for love or a role of a lifetime, Sophie met an enthusiastic old lady with two rescue dogs and the custodian of Les Buttes Chaumant named Ahmed. Then the character of Juark was born, wig off, bets off, glasses on, taking on speed, either a psychiatrist or a patient, I met sweet Janick and a caring group of Berber guys.
